60 years ago, Rosenthal stirred up the porcelain industry – with avantgarde designs by artists, designers and architects. Now we celebrate the studio-line with a limited anniversary collection and transport 60 iconic vases with twelve contemporary colours into the here and now.
Nature often dictates the most beautiful shapes: As is the case with the vases created by the designer duo “Little Wonder“, which are reminiscent of cracked eggshells. Asian influences and highly polished skills characterise the “Opening” vases – beautiful in themselves even when empty. At a first glance the vases seem familiar, yet unusual. The shape is reminiscent initially of typical ceramic forms, as created by the Minoers, for example. The opening is unusual, breaking with tradition and forcing the viewer to see the vases in a new light.
Colour limitation: Each vase/colour combination of the collection is limited to 60 pieces worldwide. When sold out, the vase will be produced in another of the 12 anniversary colours (again limited to 60 pieces).
The iF International Forum Design GmbH honours this unique collection with an iF Award 2021 in the category "Professional Concept".
The iF Design Award is one of the most coveted awards in the design scene and honours outstanding design achievements in seven disciplines ranging from product design and architecture to professional concept. This year, the jury of 98 independent international design experts evaluated more than 10,000 submissions from over 40 countries, more than ever before.
